ASHEVILLE, N.C. – No. 8 seed Western Carolina women's basketball gave No. 1 seed Wofford all it could handle and more before bowing out of the Ingles Southern Conference Championship first round 71-56 Thursday at Harrah's Cherokee Center – Asheville.
 
Turning Point:
Wofford went on an 8-0 run and a 7-0 run, in the first half, and hit six first-half three-pointers.
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Rookie Reagan Trumm led the team with 15 points hitting a pair of three-pointers. She was 3-of-4 from the free throw line.
  • Mya Love added 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
  • Kyla Allison added 10 points, hitting a pair of three-pointers, and ripped down six boards.  
  • Endia Holliday had eight points and nine rebounds.
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Western Carolina committed 21 turnovers in the game equating to 12 Wofford points.
  • After Wofford hit six three-pointers in the first half, Western Carolina held the Terriers to just one in the second half.
  • It was a 10-point Wofford lead, 56-46, at the end of the third quarter but Western Carolina could not climb back in the game. In the final 10 minutes the Terriers outscored WCU 15-10 and was 9-for-9 from the free throw line.
  • Western Carolina shot 39.2 percent from the field while Wofford shot 42.9.
  • The Catamounts outrebounded the Terriers by seven, 36-29.
  • Western Carolina was 10-of-13 from the free throw line while Wofford was 16-of-18.
  • The Catamounts had 12 offensive rebounds and scored 10 second-chance points.
 
News & Notes
  • Allison ends the season with 370 points which is good for 22nd in the Catamount record books for points in a season. Her 370 points is the most scored by a Catamount women's basketball player since the 2014-15 season when Justin Taylor had 486.
  • Trumm was two points shy of tying her career-high of 17.
  • Love ended the season scoring in double figures in nine of the last 11 games.
  • Allison scored in double figures in seven of her last nine games.
  • Combined with her time at Middle Tennessee, before transferring to Western Carolina, Allison ends her career with 819 points.
