CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina softball concludes its season-opening 21-game road trip that spanned the first 39 days of the regular season on Tuesday as the Catamounts head to Boiling Springs, N.C., for a doubleheader against Gardner-Webb. The twin bill is slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch.

WCU is 7-12 on the season after dropping a doubleheader at Georgia State on March 15.
Myra Twitty recorded a pair of hits in the opening game including a solo home run with
Riley Lambert collecting a pair of hits in the nightcap.
Brooklynn Brewington enters the week leading WCU with a .379 batting average, fourth-best in the SoCon and is tied for sixth with six stolen bases. Pitcher
Tessa Juett ranks seventh in the league in strikeouts with 41 including nine looking.
Gardner-Webb is 11-19 overall after dropping three of four games at the Spartan Classic in Greensboro last weekend. Andrea Lyon leads the Big South Conference with a team-best .463 batting average and is also tops in the league with 38 hits, nine doubles, nine home runs, and 40 RBI. As a team, Gardner-Webb is batting .279 which is second-best in its conference.
The Runnin' Bulldogs and Catamounts have met 14 previous times with WCU holding an 8-6 lead in the all-time series. Gardner-Webb picked up a 6-2 win in Boiling Springs last season in the lone matchup.
WCU opens both the home and Southern Conference portion of its schedule this weekend with a three-game series against Furman. All three games are scheduled to be streamed on ESPN+ (
