Cullowhee, N.C. – Through nine of its 15 scheduled spring practice sessions that was held Thursday afternoon on the turf at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field, the Western Carolina Catamount football team prepares for its second scrimmage on Saturday (April 1) morning with a slightly altered start time. Due to the inclement weather forecasted through the morning hours, the squad has bumped its scheduled practice to a 10:30 a.m. start on the field with its scrimmage slated to begin around 11 a.m., the team announced today.
Western Carolina began its NCAA-regulated 15 spring practices back on March 14 with Saturday's workout to represent practice session No. 10 this spring and the squad's second of three scheduled scrimmages. The Catamounts held their first scrimmage back on Friday, March 24. The offense wears the white jerseys with the defense dressed in purple tops, both wearing white practice pants. WCU has several players that are limited or restricted in contact wearing protected red jerseys through the spring.
Following Saturday's workout, the team will practice just once more next week ahead of the Easter holiday, returning to the field on Monday, April 3, before breaking for a week before resuming its schedule with three sessions – on April 11, 13, and 14. WCU's annual Spring Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 15 with a Noon start time.
All dates and practice times are subject to change.
Unless otherwise noted, each WCU spring football practice is open to the public. It is respectfully requested that spectators observe from the stadium seating area and avoid being either on the field or the sidelines.
