SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Western Carolina women's tennis team claimed the doubles point but Wofford won five of six singles matches to pick up a 5-2 win at the Reeves Tennis Center on Sunday.
Wofford improves to 11-10 overall and 2-5 in Southern Conference matches. WCU falls to 13-7 and 1-3.
The Catamounts claimed the doubles point with wins on the second and third courts.
Jade Groen and
Andrea Redondo were 6-3 winners at No. 3 singles.
Chloe Schwarz and
Isabella Sambola bested Breda Brennan and Emma Sorenson 6-1 at No. 2 doubles with their victory earning the point.
Schwarz was a 7-5, 6-1 winner over Catherine Blouin at No. 6 singles. Of Wofford's five singles wins, three of them came in three set contests. After the first set of singles, each team had the lead in three matches.
WCU closes out the 2023 regular season with three straight home matches, beginning on Tuesday at 2 p.m. against mountain rival ETSU. The match will be streamed on
