Women’s Soccer Hosts Queens in Home Opener Sunday

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Following a season opening win at mountain rival UNC Asheville on Thursday, the Western Carolina women's soccer team opens the home portion of its 2023 schedule on Sunday against Queens at 1 p.m.
 
Sunday's match will be streamed on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with free live stats available on catamountsports.com. Fans in attendance will be able to purchase Kona Ice on site.
 
Sophomore preseason All-SoCon selection Isabella DeMarco scored the lone goal of the match in the 77th minute to give the Catamounts a 1-0 win over the Bulldogs. The win is the fifth straight for the Catamounts in the all-time series against UNC Asheville.
 
Queens is 1-0 following a 1-0 home victory against Southern Conference foe Wofford on Thursday night. The Royals were picked to finish in a tie for ninth place in the 12-team ASUN Conference preseason poll and are in their second year of NCAA Division I membership.
 
Sunday's match is the first meeting on the pitch between the two schools.
 
The Catamounts open a two-match roadtrip on Wednesday, venturing to Winthrop for a 7 p.m. start with the match streamed on ESPN+ and live stats also available.
