CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Western Carolina women's soccer team remains at home on Thursday, welcoming in-state foe UNCG to the Catamount Soccer Complex for a 6 p.m. contest.

Western Carolina (4-3-3, 1-1 Southern Conference) enters Thursday's match after a 2-1 home loss against Furman on Sunday. After the Paladins held a 1-0 lead at halftime,
Isabella DeMarco scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season with an assist by
Naya Marcil in the 62
nd minute. Furman scored the game-winning goal in the 76
th minute.
UNCG (4-5-2) battled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Mercer. Mel Herrera scored the first goal of the match in the 10
th minute before the Bears tied the match in the 18
th minute. Mercer had a late scoring opportunity that glanced off the crossbar. Emma Malone made four saves in the contest.
The Catamounts and Spartans met twice in 2022, battling to a scoreless draw in Cullowhee before a 2-1 UNCG victory in the Southern Conference Tournament. The teams have met in the SoCon Tournament in each of the last two seasons including a 1-0 WCU overtime win in 2021.
WCU remains at home on Sunday, hosting Wofford at 3 p.m.
