'Basketball on the Boundary' Set for Wednesday, Oct. 30

Cullowhee, N.C – Just five days ahead of the start of two new eras for Catamount men's and women's basketball under a pair of veteran head coaches who are new to Western Carolina, both teams travel to Cherokee on Wednesday, Oct. 30, for a special preseason scrimmage dubbed "Basketball on the Boundary."

The Catamount hoops squads are slated for one of their final intrasquad scrimmages ahead of the start of the season, to be held at the Peaches Squirrell Sports & Recreation Complex in Birdtown. The event is free of charge and open to the public (first come, first serve on gym seating) and begins at 6 p.m. The teams are scheduled to play two halves apiece – the men's team playing its first half after the women's opening frame, with the women's second half to be played at halftime of the men's scrimmage.

Wednesday holds a full afternoon for Catamount basketball on the Qualla Boundary as both teams will participate and host a basketball clinic at Cherokee Central Elementary School. Player and staff will sign autographs for the kids before the two teams go to Birdtown for their respective scrimmages.
