Samantha Whitaker all earned 2024 all-district selections. Marcil, Trudel, and Robitaille each advance to All-American team consideration which will be announced on December 11, 2024.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Senior captain
Kirsten Hahn led the six Catamounts selected with a 3.98 GPA while majoring in Biology. The four-year Catamount exploded offensively in the 2024 campaign, recording a career-high six goals and three assists this season. A recipient of the 2022-23 Commissioner's Medal and named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll in both of those seasons, the Academic All-District team nod is the first CSC honor for the Ontario, Canada product.
Elite between the posts and in the classroom, junior GK
Leanne Trudel earned her second-consecutive CSC All-District Academic team honor after maintaining a 3.97 GPA in Emergency Medical Care. Trudel's GPA was higher than the number of goals conceded to conference foes this season as she posted career best marks in goals against average (0.49), save percentage (.863), and solo shutouts (12). She is one of three Catamounts to advance to CSC Academic All-American team consideration.
A key piece to an elite Catamount defensive backline,
Samantha Whitaker was as effective in the classroom as she was on the pitch. A member of the 2023-24 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the sophomore earned a 3.96 GPA while double majoring in finance and accounting. Whitaker recorded the third-most minutes by a field player for the Catamounts this season, trailing only
Becca Campbell and
Mary Mueth in time on the pitch. She went the full 90 minutes in eight WCU shutouts.
One of several unsung heroes for the 2024 Catamount offense, Sofia Goclowksi earns her first CSC Academic All-District nod after posting a 3.90 GPA in Integrated Health Sciences. Goclowksi enjoyed a banner year her second season in Cullowhee, seeing career highs in goals (4), points (8), shots (35), shots on goal (19) and nearly doubling her total minutes played from her freshman season (1190). The Sharon, Mass. Product posted two braces in the 2024 season, both coming against the Wofford Terriers.
An engine for the Catamounts, reigning Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year
Ava Robitaille can add her the first CSC Academic All-District honor of her career to an ever-growing trophy case after earning a 3.81 GPA in art at WCU. Robitaille was dominant in the middle of the field for the Purple and Gold, contesting every aerial battle that came her way in the 2024 season. The Rock Hill, S.C. product notched four assists in 2024.
Naya Marcil earned her third consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor after posting a 3.784 GPA in management while enjoying a historic year on the pitch. Marcil posted 10 goals in a season for the first time in her career and became the only player in program history to earn two national team of the week awards in her career. She is second in the Catamount record books in career assists with 21 and ranks third in career points with a total of 67. Additionally, Marcil is one of only three Catamounts in program history to record 20-plus goals and assists in their careers, joining Nardia Moore and Lauren Atkinson in the milestone.
