Two Catamount Basketball Games Included in SoCon Nexstar Package

Cullowhee, N.C. – A pair of Western Carolina's Southern Conference home basketball games on Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center have been earmarked for linear broadcast as a part of the 15-game regular-season regional league telecast schedule released this morning by the conference office.

Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., Ingles Markets, and The Southern Conference have again partnered to broadcast SoCon basketball throughout the league's six-state footprint across a network of Nexstar stations. The Catamount women's basketball team will pull the curtain back on its Southern Conference season on Jan. 9 against Chattanooga with the Feb. 9 conference showdown against ETSU for the men's team has been selected to be a part of the package.

Produced by the home conference school, each game in the broadcast package will also air concurrently on ESPN+ (paid subscription required), as six women's basketball programs along with nine men's teams will be featured at some point during the season.

"This year's Ingles SoCon Game of the Week package on Nexstar is special.  It features all ten institutions, the most women's games ever, the most non-conference games ever as part of our scheduling partnership with the ASUN, and a wildcard opportunity to feature a crucial late season matchup that could have implications for the SoCon's regular season title," SoCon Commissioner Michael Cross said. "We appreciate the tremendous, continued support of Ingles Markets and Nexstar to amplify the message that "It's All Here" in the SoCon."

The broadcast package starts with The Citadel hosting the College of Charleston at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The schedule features three games on the men's side as a part of the ASUN-SOCON Challenge newly added to the docket for the 2024-25 season. The first women's contest slated for linear coverage is Saturday, Dec. 7 with a 6 p.m. tip between Appalachian State and Wofford in Spartanburg.

Nexstar affiliates with the opportunity to air games are: ECBD (Charleston), WBTW (Myrtle Beach), WGHP (Greensboro/High Point), WJHL (Johnson City), WMYT (Charlotte), WWCW (Lynchburg/Roanoke) and WYCW (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville). Although not a Nexstar station, WMUB (Macon), Mercer University Broadcasting, will also air select contests.

Western Carolina basketball opens the 2024-25 season on Monday night with a doubleheader slated for a 5 p.m. tip led off by women's basketball hosting Warren Wilson College before men's basketball battles Bob Jones University at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with live streaming audio from the Catamount Sports Network and live stats available online at CatamountSports.com.
