Cullowhee, N.C. – Tuesday, Dec. 3, marks the high point of this year's Giving Tuesday fundraising efforts for Western Carolina University and Catamount Athletics. This Giving Tuesday, WCU and the Catamount Club have a lofty but attainable goal of receiving gifts from 1,300 donors, while also looking to increase the club's annual membership.
 
Globally, Giving Tuesday began back in 2012 as a simple idea – a day that encourage people to do good – has grown into a worldwide phenomenon inspiring individuals to give back and reach out in kindness each year. The day of giving encourages people to give back in whatever ways they can.

WCU's Catamount Nation again showed its true Purple & Gold colors this year in the wake of the Hurricane Helene disaster through physical and monetary donations to relief efforts in Western North Carolina. Catamounts showed tremendous support through the "Fill the Truck" initiatives at WCU home football games in collecting supplies for those in need.
 
Catamounts also showed tremendous support for WCU Emergency Assistance Funds including the Employee Emergency Assistance Fund and the Student Emergency Fund in providing funds to support employees and students in immediate financial need due to the unavoidable emergency situation.
