Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina's 2024 season-opening football game at North Carolina State is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Carter-Finley Stadium and be broadcast on the ACC Network, it was officially announced today by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and NC State.
The 2024 meeting is the second of a two-game agreement between the two UNC system schools originally announced in 2014.
The Catamounts and Wolfpack meet for the eighth time on the football gridiron in a series dating back to 1986. The two last met on Sept. 7, 2019, in Raleigh. The game is WCU's eighth against an ACC opponent since 2013 – and the fifth against a North Carolina-based Power Five conference opponent since 2017 (
NC State – 2019, 2024; North Carolina – 2020, 2018, 2017).
Season tickets for Western Carolina's 2024 five-game home schedule are on sale now through the WCU Athletics Ticket Office by phone at (828) 227-2401 and in person through the box office on the first floor of the Ramsey Center, or
online at CatamountSports.com. Ticket options include general admission, reserved bleacher bench, and chairback seats, with a Family Zone four-pack in Section FF.
A $10 transaction fee will be charged for all season ticket orders including credit card, cash, and check.
The renewal deadline for returning Catamount football season ticket holders is
Monday, June 3, 2024. Everyone is encouraged to
join the Catamount Club and current Catamount Club members are also reminded to renew their memberships before the end of June.
Ranked among the preseason FCS Top 25 in a pair of polls, the Catamounts will celebrate 50 Years at E.J. Whitmire Stadium in 2024. WCU's five-game home schedule opens with the first-ever meeting with instate foe Campbell on Sat., Sept. 7, in Cullowhee and also includes league visits from Wofford (Oct. 5, Family Weekend), The Citadel (Oct. 12, Heroes Day), Chattanooga (Nov. 2, Homecoming), and VMI (Nov. 16, Senior Day/Hall of Fame Day).
