Lohbauer Posts Top 10, WCU Finishes 7th at Tot Hill Farm

Senior posts first Top 10 finish of the season, 12th of her career

Asheboro, N.C. – Senior Elizabeth Lohbauer carded her second-consecutive round of even-par 72 on Tuesday to rally to her season-best ninth-place finish as play concluded at the Tot Hill Farm Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston at the par-72, 6,023-yard Tot Hill Farm Golf Club. WCU slipped on position in the final standings as a team, coming home from Randolph County with a seventh-place showing.
 
The Catamounts finished with a two-day, three-round score of 925, posting rounds of 310, 302, and 313 on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Opening the final 18 holes on the back nine, Lohbauer countered two bogeys with a pair of birdies through her first four holes in Tuesday's final round. She briefly moved to 1-under par with a third birdie on the par-3 15th before a double-bogey on the par-4 17th left her turning for home at 1-over par for the day. The Venice, Fla., native fired a 1-under par on the front nine with eight pars and a fourth birdie of the final round on the par-3 seventh to finish at even-par 72.
 
Lohbauer carded a team-best nine birdies over the 54-hole tournament.
 
Freshman Madison Lehr came home in a tie for 29th with a two-day total of 231, finishing the event with a 6-over par 78 over the final 18 holes. She finished second to Lohbauer with eight total birdies including two in the final round.
 
Lehr was joined by classmate Ella Kozak in 38th (236) and Anna Caveney in a tie for 42nd (238). Rounding out the Catamount scoring five was junior Sadler Miller in a tie for 50th overall.
 
Event-host College of Charleston (867) cruised to a 10-stroke victory over runner-up East Carolina (877) as the Pirates cut three strokes off the deficit over the final 18 holes. Coastal Carolina climbed over Elon for third place as the Chanticleers shot seven strokes better than the Phoenix to finish 889-to-900, with Gardner-Webb rounding out the top five with a team score of 905.
 
College of Charleston teammates Emma Schimpf and second-round leader Emilie Von Finckenstein decided the individual medalist honors as Schimpf advanced five positions to claim first place by a stroke, 215-to-216. Schimpf shot a 2-under par 70 while Von Finckenstein carded a 4-over par 76 as the runner-up.
 
Western Carolina competes in the first of its two October competitions as the Catamounts travel to Chapel Hill and the Finley Golf Course for the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, hosted by the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The three-day, 54-hole event is scheduled for Oct. 11-13.
