Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina Athletics today announced that Saturday's men's and women's Catamount basketball Southern Conference doubleheader is postponed until Sunday, Jan. 12, due to the impending threat of Winter Storm Cora.
 
Weather forecasts call for a wintry mix including several inches of sleet and snow to fall across western North Carolina beginning on Friday and persist through the overnight hours into Saturday morning. Temperatures are not forecasted to crest the freezing mark locally until Sunday mid-morning.
 
Game times for Sunday's twin bill remain the same with the Catamount women hosting mountain-rival ETSU at 1 p.m. in a "Blackout Ramsey" event where the team will wear its black uniforms at home while encouraging fans to wear their black WCU gear. The men's game will tip at 3:30 p.m. as the Catamounts host the Mercer Bears in league action on Ingles Court.
 
Tickets for Saturday's doubleheader will be honored on Sunday for both games. Advanced ticket sales are also available online at CatamountSports.com/BuyTickets, or at the arena on Sunday afternoon.
 
WCU women's basketball opens its Southern Conference schedule on Thursday (Jan. 9) at 6 p.m., hosting the defending league champion Chattanooga Mocs. The game will be broadcast regionally on WYCW TheCW62 across western North Carolina and WFLI-TV Chattanooga's CW in Tennessee, and simulcast on ESPN+ (paid subscription required).
