Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina junior
Andrew Korytoski was today named the Southern Conference Men's Golfer of the Week stemming from his third-place finish at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational in Pennsylvania. Korytoski headlined all SoCon men's golf play from Sept. 25 through Oct. 1.
Korytoski is the second Catamount men's golfer honored this season, joining redshirt sophomore transfer
Tyler Jones, who collected the first weekly accolade from the league back on Sept. 10. Like Jones, Korytoski's honor on Wednesday is the first of his WCU career. He is also the 14th different Catamount men's golfer to earn weekly SoCon honors since 2005.
Korytoski helped guide Western Carolina to a season-best runner-up finish at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational, hosted by West Virginia University at the par-72, 7,526-yard Mystic Rock Golf Course at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Pa. It was the third Top Five tournament finish for the Catamounts to open the 2025-25 season. Korytoski recorded a career-best finish, rallying six positions over the final round to finish in a two-way tie for third-place with a career-low score of 8-under par, 208.
After opening the tournament with an even-par 72 in round one, Korytoski posted back-to-back rounds of 4-under par 68 to find his way to the podium. Among the leaders entering Tuesday's final round, he opened the final 18 holes by shooting even-par through nine holes by carding nine pars. The Cataula, Ga., product finished strong with five birdies and three pars to counter a bogey, birdieing the final two holes of his tournament to finish tied for third.
Korytoski finished with a team-high tying 12 birdies and only had three blemishes – a double-bogey in round one and two bogeys between the second and third rounds – over the 54-hole event. He finished third in the tournament field in par-3 scoring (-1, 2.92), fifth in par-4 scoring (-4, 3.87), and was tied for fourth with 39 combined pars over the two days of competition.
The Catamounts conclude the fall portion of their schedule at the Elon Invitational. The 54-hole tournament is scheduled for Oct. 13-14 at the Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C. WCU returns to the tournament for the first time since 2023, when the squad led after the first day before coming home in second place behind the event host. Returners
Jace Butcher (T12),
Ivan Ninkovic (T30),
Andrew Korytoski (T49),
