Women's Basketball Signs Four on 2025 National Signing Day

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball head coach Jonathan Tsipis and staff announced the addition of four incoming freshmen for the 2026-27 season as part of this week's early signing period. Camri Hobbs (Charlotte, N.C.), My'Asia Young (Charlotte, N.C.), and Hannah Moss (Charlotte, N.C.) are all set to come to Cullowhee from the Queen City, while Ava Jarrett (Nashville, Tenn.) joins the Catamounts from the Volunteer State.

"From our first day at Western Carolina, we wanted to make an impact on the best players in North Carolina. These three players from the Charlotte area are among the best players in our state," said Tsipis, who has prioritized recruiting in-state with six Catamounts on the current roster hailing from North Carolina. "Adding Ava to this group only solidifies the impact these four can make when they step foot on campus at Western Carolina. My staff, led by recruiting coordinator Alison Seberger, has worked tirelessly to evaluate and build relationships with high-level talent."

 

Camri Hobbs

6-1 – Forward/Guard – Freshman

Charlotte, N.C. (Mallard Creek High School)

  • 2024-2025: SPC Player of the Year, first-team All-SPC, second-team All-District 9, and second-team All Charlotte Observer 
  • 2023-2024: first-team All-SPC, second-team All-District 9, first-team All Charlotte Observer

  • Top 160 John Lucas Enterprises Selection 
  • Listed at No. 10 among 177 ranked players in North Carolina  
  • Ranked in the top ten of Prep Girls Hoop ranking
  • Prep Career Statistics: 1,735 points, 683 rebounds, 191 assists, 205 steals, and 121 blocks.

"Camri is a highly skilled, versatile player who can score the ball inside and out with high efficiency. Her physicality helps her be a great rebounder and defender."

"My'Asia is a terrific player on both ends of the court. Defensively, she can guard anybody on the floor and plays much bigger than her size. Offensively, she is a tremendous finisher and unselfish teammate."

 

Hannah Moss

5-8 – PG – Freshman

Charlotte, N.C. (Butler High School)

  • 2024-25 Charlotte Observer Southwestern 4A Player of the Year, two-time South Western 4A All-Conference  
  • North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (NCBCA) first-team-District 9, Josh Level Classic Participant
  • Top 10 player in 704 Power Rankings, Top 3SSB Top Players.  
  • Ranked in the top ten of Prep Girls Hoop ranking
  • Prep Career Statistics: 763 points, 440 rebounds, 220 steals, 42 blocks and 261 assists

What Coach Tsip has to say:

"Hannah is a dynamic point guard who balances setting up her teammates with scoring the ball to balance best what her team needs to be successful. She is a tenacious on-ball defender who uses her strength and quick feet to frustrate opponents. Most of all, she is a tremendous leader for both her high school and AAU team."

 

Ava Jarrett

5-7 – Guard – Freshman

Nashville, Tenn. (Lipscomb Academy)

  • 2025 17u All Tournament National Championship, 2025 All Region first team  
  • DII AA Regular Season Champion, 615 Preps All Mid State second team,  
  • 2025 Miss Basketball, TSAA DI-AA Nominee, and team offensive player award
  • State Final Four team.  
  • Prep Career Statistics: 724 points

What Coach Tsip has to say:

"Ava is an excellent outside shooter who also takes the ball to the rim with strength. Defensively, she's a strong on-ball defender who wants to guard the best player on the other team. She is constantly working on her game and getting extra shots up in the gym."

Western Carolina (2-0) returns to action on Wednesday at Campbell with a 7 p.m. tip-off in Buies Creek, N.C. The Catamounts then return home in Sunday afternoon doubleheader action on Nov. 16 for the back half of the twinbill, hosting the nationally ranked Oklahoma Sooners at 3:30 p.m. WCU's men host Stetson in the front end at 1 p.m.
