The Catamounts and Bulldogs square off for the 62nd time on the hardwood Wednesday night, with WCU leading the all-time series 41-20. WCU took the most recent matchup last season with a 77-64 victory in Asheville. WCU's last home win against the Big South foe came in 2017, 62-52.

Despite the most recent outing with the top-ten Sooners, the Catamounts retain their hold as one of the strongest offensive teams in the Southern Conference early in the nonconference slate. WCU ranks as the second-best scoring team in the league, averaging 67.8 points per game, and is one of only two squads in the conference with a positive points per game differential (1.8).

WCU additionally ranks second in blocks per game (4.0) and leads the conference in steals per game (10.3), just edging out the Furman Paladins (10.2).

Asheville ranks in the middle of the pack of the Big South in scoring, averaging 66.7 points per game, but ranks as one of the strongest defensive teams in the league, limiting opponents to an average of 52.7 points. The Bulldogs lead the conference in defensive field goal and 3-point percentage, holding teams to only 30.4% FG and just 18.2% from the perimeter.

The Bulldogs have already faced one Southern Conference foe this season, falling to the Mercer Bears 48-39 in the season opener. The Bears shot 24.5% from the field and 18.2% from beyond the arc and were held to what has been their lowest scoring total of the year thus far, but came away with the nine-point win.

Players to Watch:

The Catamounts are led by redshirt sophomore Ally Hollifield, who has scored 63 points through her first four games in a WCU uniform for a team-best 15.8 points per game, second in the SoCon. She's connected on 34% of her field goals and is third in the SoCon with 12 made 3-pointers on 39 attempts. Junior transfer Joyce Mulumba leads the Catamounts on the glass, collecting 31 rebounds, second in the SoCon in total boards and tied for the lead in offensive rebounds with 17.

The Bulldogs are led by Nia Green, who has 28 points so far this season, but UNCA has four student-athletes with 20 or more points. Jamaria Freeman (25), Jaidyn Koerdt (23), and Aileen Marquez (22) have all hit the benchmark. Koerdt leads the team with five made threes, but Marquez has a team-high 15 3-point field goal attempts.

Journee McDaniel leads the team in rebounds with 22, though Nia Green is close behind with 19.

Up Next for The Catamounts:

The Catamounts hit the road for back-to-back true road matchups as they visit Wake Forest (Nov. 23) and West Georgia (Nov. 25) in consecutive road games. Tip with the Demon Deacons is set for 1 p.m. in Winston-Salem, with the Catamounts taking on West Georgia at 2 p.m. on the respective game days.

WCU then heads to The Bahamas to take on the Clemson Tigers in the 2025 Baha Mar Nassau Championship. Tip in Nassau is scheduled for 4 p.m. EST on Nov. 28, with a second game awaiting the Catamounts on Nov. 30.
