Men’s Golf on South Carolina Coast for the Hootie at Bulls Bay

Three-round, three-day tournament opens on Sunday morning with tee times

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina men's golf returns to action in coastal South Carolina at the three-day, 54-hole Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, co-hosted by the College of Charleston and South Carolina at the par-72, 7,226-yard Bulls Bay Golf Club.
 
The tournament opens with tee times off both the front and back nine beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 23, and is scheduled for 18 holes each day through Tuesday, March, 25. Live scoring through the Scoreboard app powered by Clippd is available online through a link at CatamountSports.com.
 
In addition to the Catamounts and co-hosts South Carolina and the College of Charleston, the 15-team field includes golfers from Coastal Carolina, ETSU, Elon, Furman, Iowa, Kent State, Purdue, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina State, Rutgers, and Virginia Tech.
 
Paired with golfers from Coastal Carolina and Rutgers, the Catamount scoring five opens the tournament on the back nine beginning at 10:30 a.m. off the No. 10 tee box.
 
Coming off a sixth-place finish at The Peoples Championship at Sea Palms Resort last week, sophomore Jace Butcher leads the Catamount scoring five into action at the Hootie. Butcher is third on the WCU squad in seasonal stroke average at 73.48, 23rd in the Southern Conference. Freshman Chase Cline flanks Butcher at No. 2, WCU's seasonal leader at 72.90 – 13th-best in the SoCon and the second-ranked freshman in the league.
 
Rounding out the Catamount scoring five is junior transfer Callum Waugh, second on the Catamount squad with a 73.11 scoring average, with junior Ivan Ninkovic and sophomore Michael Bevins qualifying for the team event.
