Lohbauer & Miller in Top 10; WCU Sixth at Mimosa Hills

Lohbauer is a stroke off the lead, just outside the event's top five

3/31/2025 9:30:00 PM

Morganton, N.C. – Defending individual medalist Elizabeth Lohbauer carded an opening-day score of 148 to sit one stroke off the lead after 36 of the scheduled 54 holes to lead Western Carolina women's golf at the 2025 Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate, hosted by Appalachian State at the par-72, 6,274-yard Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club.

The Catamounts closed Monday's two rounds in sixth place, a stroke outside of the team top five as junior Sadler Miller joined Lohbauer inside the individual Top 10.

Tuesday's final round is scheduled for a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Paired with golfers from App State and Gardner-Webb, WCU's scoring five opens play between holes No. 6 and No. 10. Live scoring is available through the Scoreboard app powered by Clippd.

Monday's second round was interrupted by heavy rain showers that halted play midway through the second round. Teams were chased from the course but were able to return to the soggy conditions late in the day to complete the second 18 holes.

Opening with a birdie on the par-3 sixth, Lohbauer countered five bogeys with five birdies to shoot an even-par 72 in the first round. In the afternoon round, the Venice, Fla., product carded a sixth birdie against five bogeys in shooting 4-over par 76 for her two-round total of 148.

Sadler Miller flirted with the top five all day, countering four bogeys with a trio of birdies through her opening 18 holes to shoot 1-over par 73. In the second round, the product of Clayton, N.C., carded a fourth birdie on the par-5, 460-yard third hole. However, she was relegated to a 6-over par 78 after closing the day with a double-bogey and a bogey on her final two holes.

Freshman Ella Kozak posted rounds of 6-over par 78 and 8-over par 80, climbing one spot in the second round into a tie for 18th overall. The Canadian-born striker posted a pair of birdies, one in both rounds. Rounding out WCU's scoring five are freshman Annalee Caveney in 48th (171) with a birdie charted in the second round, with sophomore transfer Abby Bradley in 54th (180), recording a pair of birdies on Monday.

Playing unattached as an individual, senior Kaitlyn Wingnean was 10 strokes better in her second round, advancing to 47th overall. She carded her lone birdie of the opening 36 holes on the par-4 10th in the second round.

Tennessee Tech leads the 10-team field by two strokes over SoCon-foe Wofford after 36 holes, 610-to-612. North Carolina A&T (625) is 15 strokes off the leading pace, followed by Gardner-Webb (626), which climbed three spots in the second round, and event-host Appalachian State (627) in fifth place, a stroke ahead of sixth-place WCU.

Wofford's Bella Kent holds a one-stroke lead – 1467-to-148 – over WCU's Elizabeth Lohbauer on the individual leaderboard. The top two are just ahead of the two-way tie for third between Polina Marina of NC A&T and Gardner-Webb's Neza Siftar.

Tournament play concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes beginning at 9 a.m.
