Catamounts to Watch:
One of two Catamounts to come away from the Davidson Relays with an event win, Imani Boyd headlines the Western Carolina lineup in High Point as the Catamounts have a combined 100 entries for the two-day meet. Boyd will compete in the 400m hurdles and the high jump as the senior looks to build on her event-winning clear of 1.60m in the latter.
The Catamounts currently lead the Southern Conference in the men's 4x400m relay after Noah Straley, Ethan Long, Henry Stecher, and Trevor Williams posted a 3:18.24 finish in the event at the Davidson Relays. Two WCU relay teams will compete at High Point, which will allow them to shave off a few seconds of their conference-leading time.
Additionally, sophomore thrower Ericka Jackson is set to compete in three field events during the weekend after breaking into the all-time top-five performance list in the javelin during the Raleigh Relays last week. Jackson's 41.93m toss was the first mark to earn a top-five placement in the Catamount record books since 2015 and is the third-best in the Southern Conference this season. She will see action in the javelin, the shot put, and the hammer throw in High Point.
Up Next for The Catamounts:
The Catamount track and field squads finish off their flurry of five meet appearances over three weeks as the team splits for the Duke Invitational (April 10-12) and the UNC Asheville Invitational (April 11-12). WCU then has a week off before the annual Catamount Classic (April 25-26) in Cullowhee, with the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships set to begin in Birmingham on May 12-13.
