Women's Basketball Adds Ally Hollifield for 2025-26 Season

Cullowhee, N.C. -- Western Carolina women's basketball head coach Jonathan Tsipis and his staff began to reload and retool their roster for the 2025-26 season this week, beginning with the addition of transfer Ally Hollifield.

A 5-7 guard out of Shelby, N.C., Hollifield joins the Catamounts after spending the last two seasons with the Memphis Tigers of the American Athletic Conference. She made her debut for the Tigers in 2023, recording her first points at the collegiate level against Middle Tennessee State. She was named to the 2023-24 AAC All-Academic team for her contributions in the classroom during her freshman year.

A three-sport athlete at Shelby High, Hollifield was a two-time all-state performer and was named conference and district Player of the Year her senior year with the Golden Lions. Named the Shelby Defensive MVP her freshman and junior seasons, Hollifield surpassed 1,000 career points at the beginning of her senior year and concluded her prep career with over 1,500 points, thanks to a 24-points, 8.9 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 5.4 steals per game line.

Hollifield led the Golden Lions to a state championship at the 2-A level as a sophomore in 2021, scoring 22 points on a 6-of-11 shooting performance with four 3-pointers in the title game. She was named the game's Most Outstanding Player for her performance as the Lady Lions scrapped together a 77-62 win over Farmville Central.
