Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina Athletics and Catamount basketball were deeply saddened today to learn of the passing of men's basketball alum Tawaski King, who played for the Catamounts under the legendary head coach, the late Larry Hunter, from 2010-14.
A stalwart staple in the Catamount lineup for four seasons, King played in 134 games for the Purple & Gold with 106 career starts in the post, including starting every game as a sophomore and junior in 2011-12 and 2012-13. He finished his career with 1,009 points and 680 career rebounds, including 291 offensive boards. He continues to rank among the WCU Top 10 for career games played, games started, and career offensive rebounds.
Originally from Dublin, Ga., King made his WCU debut against ACC foe Clemson and scored his first collegiate points just 13 seconds after entering his second career game at DePaul back in 2010.
King was serving as a minister with the Anointed Vessels Restoration Center in Dublin, Ga.
Catamount Athletics extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Tawaski King. Please keep the family and their friends in your prayers during this challenging time.
