Birmingham, Ala. – Already short-handed heading to Samford on Sunday, Western Carolina women's tennis was forced to forfeit its match against the Bulldogs as health reasons left the Catamounts unable to field the International Tennis Association (ITA) minimum of four players for an intercollegiate match.
Injuries and individual illness continued to hamper the Catamounts through the 2026 schedule. The Southern Conference's ruling was supported by the ACC's Supervisor of Tennis Officials as well as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The Catamounts (2-13, 0-3 SoCon) have a few days to recover before heading to Chattanooga to face the Mocs in league play on March 26.
