Former Catamount Nick McNeil Makes All-NFL Europe League Team

Cullowhee, N.C. - Nick McNeil, a three-time All-Southern Conference selection while playing defensive end for Western Carolina from 2000-03, was named to the 2005 All-NFL Europe League Team, as selected by the coaching staffs, media and by fans voting online. McNeil, in his first season in NFL Europe, played middle linebacker for Hamburg and was one of nine Sea Devils to make the 27-member all-star squad.

McNeil finished the season ranked fifth in NFL Europe and second on the Sea Devils' team in tackles, tallying 61 total hits. He additionally had a sack, two forced fumbles and blocked a field goal. McNeil also had an interception, returning it 28 yards for a touchdown in a 28-6 victory over Cologne.

McNeil was allotted to the Sea Devils by Green Bay. McNeil signed with the Packers as a member of the practice squad this past December after being a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2004 off season and training camp.
