Men's Basketball Adds Tyler Harris During Early Signing Period

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina head men’s basketball coach Mark Prosser announced the signing of Charlotte, N.C. native Tyler Harris on Tuesday morning. Harris attends Independence High School in Charlotte and signed with the Catamounts last week during the early signing period.

“We could not be more excited to officially welcome Tyler and his family into our Western Carolina Basketball family,” Prosser stated. “Tyler is a wonderful young man and a very good student. On the court, his upside is limitless. Tyler is just scratching the surface of the player that he will be over his career in Cullowhee, and we feel very fortunate that he will pursue that potential in a WCU uniform.”

Harris, a 6-7 forward, will complete his prep career this season at Independence after transferring to the school from Northside Christian. During his junior year, Harris helped to lead NCA to the NCISAA 2A playoffs. Harris played AAU Basketball for Upward Stars Charlotte for head coach Derix Bell.

The Catamounts play in the Cancun Challenge on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning to the Ramsey Center on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Jacksonville.
