Andrew Cox joined the Western Carolina baseball coaching staff during the summer of 2020 as a full-time assistant coach. A former baseball student-athlete at Clemson, Cox comes to Cullowhee after spending two years at Furman as the volunteer assistant coach and director of baseball operations.

Cox spent five years in the Clemson baseball program from 2012-2017 where he played for both American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), Clemson, and WCU Hall of Fame coach Jack Leggett and his final two seasons for head coach Monte Lee. Cox appeared in 186 career games over his four-year playing career split between the infield, outfield, and as a designated hitter. In his final campaign with the Tigers in 2017, he started 59 of 62 games and hit .280 with 65 hits including six home runs and 35 RBI en route to earning third-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors. He was the recipient of the 2017 Tiger Baseball Award, given annually to the program’s top leader.

A four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection, Cox graduated from Clemson in May of 2016 with a degree in parks, recreation, and tourism management. He earned a Master’s degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from Clemson in August, 2018.
A Belton, S.C., native, he was a two-time all-state selection and member of a state championship team at baseball power Belton-Honea Path (S.C.) High School.
