Western Carolina cheerleading alum Caitlyn Davis was named the head coach of the Catamount Cheerleading program during the summer of 2022.
Davis is a fourth-consecutive cheerleading coach that came through the WCU program. She follows in the footsteps of Kim Cherry-Beck, Ashley Morgan Crowe, and most recently Kourtney Kirby Sandefur. Her 2022-23 assistant coaching staff of Hailey Schenk, who was with the program a year ago, and Lauren Brooks are also WCU and Catamount cheerleading alums.
Originally from Asheville, Davis has nearly 20 years of combined cheerleading experience that began with the Enka Youth League and continued through her collegiate career at Western Carolina. Most recently, she is a cheer coach with Fearless Athletics based in Arden, N.C., coaching Junior I.
Davis’s extensive cheerleading experience includes cheering with a couple of All-Star gyms in Western North Carolina including Premier Athletics and Club Cheer where she was a four-year all-star team captain. At Enka High, Davis was a team captain as a senior before coming to WCU. With Catamount Cheer, Davis captained the team as a senior and made WCU’s National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) competition squad where she competed for three years at nationals in Daytona Beach, Fla.
In addition to Fearless Athletics, her cheer coaching experience includes assisting with a Mini Level 1 team and also working as a special needs squad assistant coach.
Davis graduated from WCU with a bachelor of science degree in psychology in May 2018 and earned her Master’s degree specializing in sports psychology in 2020.
