Western Carolina University

Kourtney K. Sandefur was named the head cheerleading coach at Western Carolina on June 1, 2022 after spending four years as the assistant coach beginning in the fall of 2018. Sandefur is also employed in student affairs at Western Carolina University as an Assistant Director for Financial Aid.

A member of the Catamount cheerleading squad from 2011-2015, Sandefur has over 13 years of dance and over 20 years of cheerleading experience. While serving as the assistant coach, she was involved in choreography in all of the squad's in-game performances.

Originaly from Hudson, N.C., Sandefur graduated from Western Carolina University in 2015 with a BSBA in Sport Management and a minor in accounting. She earned her Masters of Education in Higher Education Student Affairs in May 2017. While and undergraduate on the cheerleading squad, she competed at the NCAA Collegiate Nationals each of her four years. She was also involved as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative.

Sandefur is married to former Western Carolina baseball player, and current Catamount baseball assistant coach, Taylor Sandefur, on Dec. 30, 2017. The couple has one son, Tate.
