DeAirus Whitney joined the Catamount football staff as a quality control coach working with the defense in July 2022. Whitney spent the previous two seasons on staff at Central Arkansas as the defensive graduate assistant where he worked primarily with the defensive backs.
 
Whitney’s experience also includes working as a football video coordinator and a content creator involved with recruiting during his time at UCA.
 
Whitney earned his start in coaching at Catholic High in Little Rock, Ark., in 2019, assisting with the defensive line and linebackers before receiving his opportunity with the UCA football program.
 
Originally from Searcy, Ark., Whitney excelled as a prep at his alma mater, ending with 177 tackles including two sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries. He was a three-time letter winner and a two-time all-conference selection. He was also selected to be a part of the 501 Life Magazine Team. Whitney signed to play linebacker at Lyon College in Batesville, Ark., just an hour north of his hometown but was sidelined due to a career-ending injury.
 
Whitney graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 2021 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in health and education. He is also currently pursuing a Master’s in sports management at UCA.
 
Whitney is married to the former Ms. Macie Fritts of Los Angeles, Calif., proposing following a UCA football victory at Estes Stadium in late September of 2021.
