Western Carolina University

Sydney Spears joined the Western Carolina Catamount football staff as the program’s Director of On-Campus Recruiting in mid-February 2022.
 
Spears, a 2020 graduate of the University of Alabama, came to Cullowhee after serving as a football recruiting assistant at Middle Tennessee State in 2021. In that role, she assisted the director of player personnel with coordinating, planning, and executing all unofficial and official recruiting visits.
 
Before making the move to Murfreesboro, Tenn., Spears spent the summer of 2021 as a recruiting intern at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, aiding the Volunteers’ Director of Recruiting.
 
A double-major in biology and marine science at Alabama, Spears aided the Crimson Tide football operation staff as an undergraduate as a part of the student recruitment team, working her way to vice president of football operations. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority where she was twice elected to the policy and standards board in both 2018 and 2019.

Spears is originally from Olathe, Kansas, and also lived in Waukee, Iowa, before attending the University of Alabama.
