Biography
Career: Between Winthrop and WCU, played in 148 career games with 80 starts … Including 702 points scored in a Catamount uniform, eclipsed the 1,000-career point threshold in 2023-24, doing so in the first half of the home win over VMI (Jan. 27) … Finished his WCU career with double-digit scoring 33 times, eclipsing the 20-point threshold eight times … Recorded 273 career assists and 161 career steals.
2023-24 (Redshirt Senior): Started all 31 games in which he saw action … Finished the season with 392 points scored, averaging 12.6 points per game … Ranked 19th in the SoCon in scoring average … Was tied for ninth in the SoCon with 80 made 3-pointers, averaging 2.6 3-pointers per game to rank eighth in the league … His 41.2-percent shooting from beyond the 3-point arc ranked him sixth in the SoCon … Scored in double-figures 19 times including 20-plus point six times … Scored 20 points in WCU’s road win at ACC-foe Notre Dame (Nov. 11) and at home against Furman (Feb. 28) … Finished with 21 points at home against ETSU (Feb. 17) … Scored his season-high of 22 points three times – at home against Samford (Jan. 16) and VMI (Jan. 27) with 22 points also scored at UNCG (Feb. 21) … Made a career-high six made 3-pointers in the win over VMI ... 2022-23 (Redshirt Junior): Played in and started all 34 games…Averaged 9.1 points per game, fourth-best on the team…Finished in double figures in 14 games…Tallied a career-high 23 points against Mercer which came on the heels of a 21-point effort in a win at ETSU…Made the game-winning 3-pointer in a home victory over Wofford…Swiped a career-best five steals in the season-opener at Georgia…Distributed five assists in games against Brescia, McNeese State, and Toccoa Falls…Snagged six rebounds in the home opener against Brescia…Went a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line in the overtime victory against Lindenwood…Played a career-high 48 minutes in the double overtime win at Wofford.
Prior to Western Carolina: Arrives in Cullowhee after playing at Winthrop…As a junior, he played in all 32 games with five starts and averaged just under five points and 1.6 rebounds per game…Jones finished second on the team with 30 steals and 0.9 steals per game…Finished in double figures in four games… As a sophomore Jones averaged 4.9 points per game and scored a season-best 17 points at High Point…During freshman season he played in 28 games and started the first eight games of the season including an eight-point effort at then-No. 1 Duke and tallied a career-high 21 points off the bench against Elon.
High School: Played at Westwood High School and was selected as the 2020 SCHSL 4A Player of the Year…Surpassed the 1,000-career point mark and was a two-time All-State and All-Region 3 selection.
