2026 (Freshman): All-Freshman Team Honoree... Appeared in 45 games with 42 starts which included 41 starts at shortstop... totaled 26 hits, 21 runs, three doubles and 21 RBIs as she seized early control of the shortstop position in 2026... she also tallied four homers while drawing eight walks, two hit-by-pitches and four sacrifices (two SF, two SAC)... she also finished tied for third on the team with seven stolen bases... hit her first career homer in game-winning fashion during WCU's 11-7 victory over Furman (March 21st)... also tallied homers against USC Upstate (March 24), UNC Greensboro (March 29), and Chattanooga (April 18) with her blast against the Mocs capping an 11-3 run-rule victory over UTC... had a season-high three hits in game two against Georgia State (April 7)... earned two-hit games against UNCG, and Wofford (May 1)... had six games with two RBIs coming against Furman, USC Upstate, UNCG, Chattanooga (April 18 & 19), and Wofford... posted a season-high eight game reached base streak... hit .279 with 17 hits including two doubles, three homers and 14 RBIs in league action, while also adding five stolen bases... helped turn four of WCU's 15 double plays that pushed the Catamounts to a tie for fourth in the league with 15 DPs and a 96.3 fielding percentage... part of an offense that broke single-season team records in batting average (.313), slugging percentage (.505), on-base percentage (.385), hits (504), doubles (73), runs (368), runs batted in (337), total bases (812), steals (79), and sacrifice flies (24)...
HIGH SCHOOL:Â Lyda hit above .400 in three of her four seasons as a prep, including a high mark of .508 as a junior, which featured a .934 slugging percentage. She totaled 59 steals over her time at West Henderson High with a career-best 20 as a sophomore. Lyda
was a multi-time all-conference honoree while garnering all-district honors throughout her prep career.
As a junior, Lyda received 3A State Player of the Year honors, while also being named Mount 7 Conference Player of the Year as a senior. In the classroom, Lyda received All-American Scholar honors throughout her high school tenure. Lyda closed her career by receiving honorable mention All-state recognition, joined by fellow WCU freshmen Kimber Shambley, Emily Murphy, and Sydnee Bumgarner in North Carolina, who were also mentioned throughout the list of honorees.
Outside of Softball, Lyda was a four-time all-conference honoree on the basketball court, including earning Defensive Player of the Year in 2025, as she pulled down over 700 career rebounds. Lyda's older brother Jackson is a member of the Western Carolina baseball program.
