2026 (Junior): SoCon First-Team All-Conference selection... SoCon Player of the Week (March 9 & 23)... she was one of three players to appear and start in all 58 games as WCU's third baseman... she etched her name all over the Catamount softball record book with a .403 batting average, becoming jsut the second player to reach the .400 batting average plateau and second in as many years for WCU... she finished with the second-most hits in school history with 77 hits, third-most runs with 49, third-most in homers with 17 and finished tied for second with classmate Sydney Dirks with 57 RBIs... she also broke a school record with 144 total bases and a school-record .754 slugging percentage... she placed seventh in on-base percentage with a .456 mark... one of six Catamounts to eclipse the .320 batting average... placed second in the single-season WCU batting average record book... finished second in SoCon with 77 hits, tied for third in the league with 14 doubles... tied for second in the league with 17 home runs... finished second in the SoCon with a .403 average, one of just three players in the league to eclipse .400 batting average mark... she tallied a hit in 43 games and matched the team-lead with 25 multi-hit games and she also finished second in the league with 13 multi-RBI performances... drew 16 walks and reached base five times via a hit-by-pitch... had three sacrifice flies and one sacrifice bunt... finished tied for second on the team with eight stolen bases... had a two-double performance with a career-high four runs scored during WCU's 21-0 record-breaking win over Gardner-Webb (April 14)... had a multi-homer game against Furman (March 22) during a three-game sweep of the Catamounts chromatic rivals... had nine games with three or more runs driven in, including a season-high four against Furman, Gardner-Webb (Feb. 24), Penn (March 8), Robert Morris (March 6), UNCG (March 28), Penn (Feb. 13), Presbyterian (March 10), ETSU (April 4), Gardner-Webb (April 14)... one of six Catamounts to connect on a grand slam for WCU... McPherson's best offensive stretch at the dish came over the first three weeks in SoCon play with a 12-game hit streak that saw her post a .538 (21-for-39) average with four doubles, 13 runs scored, eight homers, and 18 RBIs. She also put together a seven-game hit streak in the first week of March and had hits in eight of nine games to open her 2026 season... with her three-hit performance against Mercer (April 25th), McPherson broke the school record for total bases as she finished with 144 on the 2026 season... in SoCon play, McPherson finished with a .353 (24-of-68) average with a team-best 17 runs scored, four doubles, seven homers and 17 RBIs... she also added eight walks and four steals... part of an offense that broke single-season team records in batting average (.313), slugging percentage (.505), on-base percentage (.385), hits (504), doubles (73), runs (368), runs batted in (337), total bases (812), steals (79), and sacrifice flies (24)... McPherson's first-team honors marked the squad's most all-conference honorees in program history with nine representatives, the most since 2021... helped turn five of WCU's 15 double plays that pushed the Catamounts to a tie for fourth in the league with 15 DPs and a 96.3 fielding percentage... was one of four Catamounts to receive preseason All-SoCon honors on the first team...
2025 (Sophomore): One of two players to see action in all 53 games with all 53 starts coming as the third baseman… finished third on the team with a .305 average totaling 50 hits with 21 runs scored and a team-high 51 RBIs… recorded 13 multi-hit games with a trio of three-hit games… led the squad with 13 multiple RBI games… had a team-best nine-game hit streak… logged 14 doubles to lead the team as she finished tied for fourth in the SoCon… her 14 doubles place her in a tie for second in the single-season record book and are the most doubles by a Catamount in a season since 2017 when Hunter Gibbons tallied 16 two-baggers… finished second on the team with seven homers… tallied three-hit games against Rhode Island (February 28 & March 1) and Winthrop (March 7)… scored a career-high three runs against ETSU (March 22)… tallied six doubles and three homers in SoCon play… had a career-high six RBIs in nonconference matchup with N.C. A&T (February 28)… posted a single-season WCU record for sacrifice flies with six… her six sacrifice flies also ranked among the top 10 in the nation… recorded four stolen bases… earned SoCon Player of the Week on March 3 as she  posted one of her best collegiate weeks, finishing 10-for-22 (.455) with two doubles and a home run with three runs scored. She also finished with a team-high 16 RBIs, tied for the national lead with 16 runs knocked in over the course of the past week…. 2024-25 SoCon Academic Honor Roll...
2024 (Freshman): Played in 51 games throughout her debut season with all 51 starts coming as the third baseman… batted .272 with 13 runs scored and 21 RBI… added seven doubles and five homers… added four sacrifice hits and three sacrifice flies… finished with seven multi-hit games including a season-high four-hit performance at Wofford on April 13… added a three-hit performance against Austin Peay on February 9… tallied four two-baggers in SoCon play including back-to-back days against ETSU and Wofford… hit four of five homers in home games against Kent State, NCCU, USC Upstate and Chattanooga… posted the second-longest hit streak for WCU with eight straight games… also posted nine-game reached base streak which was third longest by a Catamount in 2024… one of five Catamounts to post a .300+ average in SoCon play hitting .302 with four doubles and a homer… part of three WCU freshman to receive freshman team honors from the league for the first time since 2021… 2023-24 SoCon Academic Honor Roll...Â
HIGH SCHOOL:Â McPherson heads across the United States to Cullowhee after playing at Quartz Hill High School. McPherson did not play during her senior season but batted .651 with 13 home runs and 41 RBI during her junior season. In addition to playing softball, Maya has competed in archery tournaments since she was 10 years old.Â
