Anthony Rocha joined the Western Carolina Sports Medicine staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in August 2023. His primary sports responsibilities include Catamount women’s soccer and softball.

Rocha came to Cullowhee from Fresno State where he spent the previous year working as an athletic training intern with the Bulldogs athletics staff. His primary sport responsibility was the FSU swimming and diving, as well as the water polo program. He also aided in the coverage of multiple sports including football, women’s soccer, equestrian, tennis, and track & field

Rocha earned his start in athletic training as an undergraduate student at Chico State from 2018-20, working mostly with the soccer, basketball, track & field, and baseball programs. As a first-year graduate student at Northern Arizona, he interned with NAU Athletics working with the Lumberjacks’ football and track & field teams. In his second year, Rocha worked at Arizona State where he was involved in the clinical care of football and track & field student-athletes for the Sun Devils.

Originally from Stockton, Calif., Rocha is a 2020 graduate of California State University, Chico with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology. He earned a Master of Science in Athletic Training from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., in 2022. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and is a certified athletic trainer (ATC).
