Austin Shealy joined the Catamount football coaching staff in the spring of 2026 as a football quality control coach, assisting with the defensive linebackers. Shealy comes to Cullowhee after spending three seasons on the staff as a graduate assistant at Florida A&M in Tallahassee, where he was a cornerbacks coach and assistant to the head coach.

Shealy earned his start at FAMU in 2023 as a student assistant working with the linebackers. In his first season, the Rattlers were crowned the HBCU Division I Football National Champions, defeating Howard, 30-26, in the Cricket Celebration Bowl in Atlanta. He assisted with the cornerbacks as a defensive graduate assistant in the 2024 season, before serving as the corners coach and assistant to the head coach in 2025.

A 2023 graduate of Florida State with a bachelor’s in psychology, Shealy is pursuing his master's in sport management from Florida A&M. He and his wife, the former Elle Chaplin, were married in May 2026.
