Brian Dryden was named an Assistant Sports Performance Coach at Western Carolina in July of 2021. Dryden oversees the sports performance training of the Catamount women’s basketball, women’s soccer, and softball programs. Dryden also assists in the training of the men’s basketball and volleyball programs. Dryden will be working to improve the sports performance programs by designing systematic training programs for reliable long-term athletic development.
Prior to arriving at WCU, Dryden was the Assistant Sports Performance Coach at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. At UNCP, he oversaw the sports performance training of the men’s and women’s track and field programs, women’s volleyball, women’s swimming, and women’s golf. Dryden also assisted with football, men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, wrestling, baseball, and softball. In addition to his training duties, Dryden improved the sports performance programs through reliable athletic-based testing protocols, nutrition education, & training education on multiple social media platforms as well as designing systematic training programs for reliable long-term athletic development.
Dryden performed a Graduate Internship at Arizona State University from 2018-2020 working with their Olympic Sports Programs including multiple national championship, Olympic, and professional caliber athletes across 16 Division I sports.
Dryden holds a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Wellness from Arizona State University (2018) and master's degree in Exercise and Wellness with an emphasis in Fitness and Conditioning from the Arizona State (2020). Dryden is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
