Jacob Topple joined the Catamount Sports Performance staff in February 2023 as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach. At WCU, in addition to assisting in the David & Marie Brinkley Athletics Weightlifting Facility, Topple will work primarily with the Catamount baseball team.

Topple comes to Cullowhee having most recently served as the head strength and conditioning coach at White Knoll High School in Lexington, S.C., where he was directly responsible for the creation and implementation of training programs to enhance the athletic performance and decrease injury risks for all the varsity, junior varsity, and middle school student-athletes. He also served as an Assistant Director of Athletic Performance at Byrnes High in Duncan, S.C.

His experience began while as an undergraduate at SUNY Brockport as a student mentor assisting with the Golden Eagles’ student-athletes. He also completed an internship with the Syracuse football program and started his professional career as the weight room supervisor at Victory High School in Victor, N.Y.

Topple also spent two years at Next Level Strength and Conditioning in Fairport, N.Y., working his way up from an intern position to a strength & conditioning coach, and ultimately the office manager. His position allowed him the opportunity to work with athletes of all ages from middle school to college and adults, developing group sessions and team training schedules.

Topple is a 2019 graduate from SUNY Brockport with a B.S. in Exercise Science while minoring in biology. He earned a Master of Science in Exercise Science and Wellness: Fitness and Performance from Liberty University in 2022. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
