Marlon Howard joined the Catamount Athletics external relations staff in March 2024 as the Director of Creative Media. He is responsible for producing video and photo content for all 16 of Western Carolina’s intercollegiate sports and coordinates WCU’s social media.
 
Howard came to Cullowhee after spending over two and a half years as the Director of Creative Content at Charleston Southern University in North Charleston, S.C., where he held similar responsibilities.
 
He earned his professional start in media production with the Nexstar Media Group in Charleston, S.C., as a photographer and editor before finishing his time as a producer. While in the South Carolina Lowcountry, Howard started in college athletics as the Athletics Video Coordinator at Southern Conference member, The Citadel. He also worked three seasons as a camera operator for the Charleston RiverDogs minor league baseball team, winning the organization’s Employee of the Year honor in 2023.
 
Howard is a 2017 graduate from Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C., earning his bachelor’s degree in mass communication and media studies. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and Sigma Alpha Pi, the National Society of Leadership and Success.
