Tyler Pope returned to his alma mater at Western Carolina University taking over the role as the Director of Athletics Marketing for Catamount Athletics in August 2021. His title was later adjusted to include Fan Engagement. In January 2024, Pope was elevated to Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions.
Pope returned to WCU after serving as an integrated marketing assistant for Learfield IMG College. While with Learfield, Pope assisted with proposals, created monthly website posts for partners, help brainstorm new ideas for schools and partners and organize data for monthly sales.
Before Learfield, he was a promotions assistant at the University of Georgia. Pope acted as the marketing contact for the Bulldog volleyball, men’s basketball, gymnastics, and softball teams. He also assisted on gameday for Georgia Bulldog football games. He also assisted in coordinating and scheduling the 25 interns and student workers during game days.
Pope spent two years at Northern Illinois as a graduate assistant earning an M.S. in Sport Management from Aug. 2017 to Dec. 2018. While at NIU he acted as the main marketing contact for volleyball, wrestling, softball, and women’s basketball. He planned out detailed marketing plans, coordinated logistics for NIU tailgating, assisted in the NIU kids club, the pup club, and helped create graphics for social media.
For his internship, while a student at Western Carolina, Pope served as a marketing and promotions intern at Duke University. He collaborated with the Blue Devil marketing director for ideas, working as the main marketing contact for men’s tennis and baseball.
Pope received his B.S.B.A in sport management at Western Carolina University in May 2017. While a student, he worked as a marketing intern for Catamount Athletics assisting the marketing director with in-office responsibilities directing volleyball, soccer, and softball game days.
Tyler and his wife Kendra live in Waynesville with their dog Maverick.
