Western Carolina Makes a Comeback Against Chattanooga

Cullowhee, N.C. - The women's volleyball team took Chattanooga to five games and came out triumphant in Reid Gym, Wednesday night.

WCU junior Christy Attebery recorded over 30 kills for the third time this season. She led the team with 35 kills and 30 digs. Following her were freshmen Pamela Stein and Sara Komosinski adding 27 and 23 kills respectively. It was the first time in WCU history that three Cats recorded more than 20 kills in a match. Komosinski also recorded her first career triple-double with 23 kills, 14 digs and 10 blocks.

The first two games of the match were close with Western taking the first 18-16 and UTC taking the second 16-14. Although Chattanooga won game three 15-8, Western rolled past with a decisive 15-7 victory. Chattanooga fought back in the fifth game but was no match for WCU as the Lady Cats took the game 15-10 to improve to a 9-11 overall record and 7-4 in Southern Conference play.

Junior Bri Milan-Williams also broke records when she set a career-high 83 assists in the five game battle.

As a team WCU was 11 kills short of a school recording marking 100 on the night as well as 100 digs. The Lady Cats recorded 17 team blocks to Chattanooga's 13.

Western Carolina travels to Greensboro Saturday, October 21 for a 2:00 pm match. Chattanooga falls to 13-10 and 9-3.
