Catamounts Conquer Charleston 3-2

Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina was paced by freshman Pamela Stein, who tallied 20 kills, en route to a 3-2 victory over the College of Charleston Saturday afternoon in Reid Gymnasium.

After the Catamounts took game one 15-5, the Cougars responded by taking game two 15-9. Western was also paced by Christy Attebery, who notched 19 kills on the afternoon. Attebery is only four kills from taking fourth in WCU's record books for career kills. Sara Komosinski also helped the catamount cause by contributing 10 kills.

Defensively, the Cats were led by Attebery who recorded 17 digs. Stein also helped by putting up 16 digs, Shari Harder also contributed as she notched 12 digs. Cindy Camp recorded 10 digs on the afternoon.

With the win, Western Carolina improves to 5-3 in the Southern Conference 7-10 overall. The loss drops College of Charleston to 3-6 in conference action and 9-8 overall.

The Catamounts will return to action Sunday, as they play host to conference opponent The Citadel at 2 p.m. in the Ramsey Center.
