Women's Volleyball Rolls Past Citadel

Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina's Christy Attebery moved into fourth place in WCU record books for career kills Sunday in the Ramsey Center in a 3-0 victory over The Citadel.

WCU took a commanding lead to win game one 15-6. The Bulldogs took the lead in game two 2-1 for the team's only lead of the match. The Catamounts took back control of the game to win game two 15-8 and 15-5 in game three.

Freshman Crissi Harrison led the way for the Lady Cats with nine kills on 19 attempts. Freshmen Michelle Gorton and Shari Harder each recorded seven digs to lead the match with Shanna Mintz adding five. Other freshman making an impact in the Catamounts success are Pamela Stein and Sara Komosinski both adding seven kills along with Gorton.

The Citadel's sophomore Nicole Mantu led the Bulldogs with seven kills while freshman setter Desiree Browning recorded 12 assists.

Western Carolina advances to 8-10 and 6-3 in Southern Conference play. The Citadel falls to 2-13 and 0-8 in league play.

The Lady Cats will host East Tennessee State Friday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m.
