Volleyball Wins Eighth Straight Match

Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina won a pair of matches over Mercer (3-0) and N.C. A&T (3-0) to improve to a 16-12 record Saturday afternoon in the Ramsey Center.

Junior Christy Attebery led the Lady Cats with 13 kills and 15 digs in the first match defeating Mercer. Freshman Sara Komosinski tallied 10 kills on the afternoon while junior Bri Milan-Williams recorded 20 assists in two of the games. Freshman Shari Harder started the third and added 14 assists.

Mercer's Erin Jalbert led her team with 10 digs while setter Amanda Lee tallied 19 assists for the Bears.

Game two of the afternoon featured Mercer and N.C. A&T with N.C. A&T winning the match in a 3-2 battle.

N.C. A&T junior Lisa Thomas led the Aggies with 21 kills with Shayla Stevenson adding 13. Candace Lunford and Danesha Taylor each added 12. Mercer sophomore Vikki Skundric led the Bears with 19 kills with Jalbert adding 15.

Western Carolina faced the Aggies in game three. The Lady Cats shut down N.C. A&T in a 3-0 match. The Lady Cats marked a team total of 60 kills with Attebery and Komosinski each recording 14. Attebery recorded the teams only double double with 13 digs.

Western Carolina will finish the season with its final four matches on the road starting with Furman, November 6 at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are in a battle for third in the conference.
