Greenville, S.C. - The Western Carolina volleyball team fell 0-3 to Furman Monday night at Timmons Arena.
Western Carolina built a 10-3 lead in game one before Furman rallied to outscore the Cats 12-3 for the 15-13 win. The teams battled back and forth in game two, with seven ties in the game. The Paladins scored two points to break a 13-13 tie and take at 15-13 victory. They Cats pulled ahead again in game three, but Furman again rallied for the 15-12 win.
Junior Christy Attebery led Western Carolina with 17 kills and 14 digs. Attebery is currently only 23 kills from the WCU record for career kills. Junior Ashley Minton added 18 digs, and junior setter Bri Milan-Williams recorded 48 assists.
Furman sophomore Abby Simon recorded a .308 hitting percentage with 15 kills and four blocks, while sophomore Laura Bush added 12 kills and 14 digs.
Western Carolina falls to a 16-13 overall record and 11-6 in Southern Conference play while Furman improves to 14-16 overall and 13-5 in the SoCon. The Cats will next travel to Chattanooga Wednesday, November 8. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
