Cullowhee, N.C. - Western Carolina (2-6, 1-1) notched its first Southern Conference victory this season with a 3-0 win over UNC Greensboro (2-8, 1-2) Friday night in
the Ramsey Center.
After cruising through games one and two, the Lady Cats jumped out to a 14-4 lead in game three, before the Spartans battled back to cut the deficit to 14-12. Western's Christy Attebery secured the victory with her 15th kill of the evening to lead WCU to a 15-12 victory in game three.
Western won games one and two with 15-6 wins. The team recorded 44 kills to Greensboro's 25 with Attebery leading the way. She also led the match in
digs with 18 for the teams only double-double. After tonight's match has an average of 5.28 kills per game.
Freshman Crissi Harrison also recorded double figure kills with 13 on 22 attempts. Junior setter Bri Milan-Williams recorded 34 assists on the night. She is back to full
strength after a slight concussion at the Brion's Grille/Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason earlier in the season.
Western Carolina will host conference opponent Davidson on Sunday, September 17 at 3:00 p.m.
