Western Loses a Disappointing 2-3

Johnson City, Tenn. - Western Carolina fell to a 0-4 overall record and 0-1 in the Southern Conference in a 2-3 loss to East Tennessee State Tuesday night in ETSU's Brooks Gym.

After ETSU took the first game 15-9, Western Carolina surged ahead 2-1 after 15-8 and 15-11 games. The Lady Bucs responded with 23 kills in the fourth game and knotted the match with a 15-11 triumph. In the back-and-fourth fifth and final set, the Bucs prevailed 16-14.

The Lady Cats were led by Christy Attebery's 38 kills on 77 attempts, two kills shy of her career-high 40 kills that she recorded last season. She also recorded a game-high 21 digs. Ashley Minton had 15 kills and 13 digs for Western. WCU recorded 75 kills and 72 digs as a team compared to ETSU's 68 kills and 67 digs.

Junior setter Bri Milan-Williams has been sidlined the past two games duea mild concussion that occured during the Maryland-Baltimore County game. Freshman Shari Harder has been setting for the Lady Cats in the past two games where she has tallied 75 assists 9 games.
