Orlando, Fla. - The Western Carolina women's volleyball team broke a five game losing streak in at 3-2 victory over Florida International University Friday night in
the UCF Tournament.
The Lady Cats kicked off the tournament with their first match against Bowling Green where they lost 0-3. Freshman setter Shari Harder recorded a double-double
with 12 assists and 16 digs. The injured Bri Milan-Williams played in two of the games and marked six assists and 11 digs.
The 0-5 streak was broken when the team faced Florida International and won a hard fought match 15-2, 10-15, 15-10, 14-16 and 15-10. Junior Christy Attebery
entered the 30-kill club for the second time this season putting down 34. Attebery was ranked third in the Southern Conference in kills per game with 4.41 entering
into this weekend. She now records 5.0 kills per game.
Milan-Williams played the entire match recording 47 assists and 18 digs. She has recorded 2,029 career assists and is 1,126 away from fourth in WCU record books.
Western will play UCF Saturday at noon for their final game of the tournament then will return home for their season home opener Friday, September 15 against
conference opponent UNC Greensboro. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
