Attebery and Milan-Williams Named to All-Tournament Team

Birmingham, Ala. - Juniors Christy Attebery and Bri Milan-Williams were named to the all-tournament team at the State Farm/Samford Invitational hosted by Samford University.

After losing the first game of the tournament to Troy State, Western Carolina lost a hard fought five game match to the host Samford. WCU won game one 15-9, then lost games two and three 8-15 and 13-15. The team came back to win game four 15-7 however Samford fought back to win game five (2-15) and the match.

Attebery led the match with 29 kills and 21 digs. She currently leads the conference in kills per game with 5.34 and is in the top ten in digs per game (3.34). Milan-Williams also recorded a double-double with 55 assists and 11 digs. Milan-Williams is fourth in the conference in assists per game (10.10).

The Lady Cats came back in the next match to roll past Tennessee State in three games (15-5, 15-8, 15-2). Again the Catamounts were led by Attebery with 10 kills and six digs. Freshman Crissi Harrison added nine kills and Sara Komosinski added seven.

WCU improves to a 3-8 record and will host conference opponent Georgia Southern Sunday, September 24 at 2 P.M.
