Christy Attebery surpassed the 2,000 career kill mark leading the team with 21 in a 3-1 victory over Georgia Southern in Southern Conference play Friday night in the Ramsey Center. Attebery now has a total of 2,013. Western remains undefeated at home with a 12-0 home record.
The Catamounts took the Lady Eagles handily in game one with a score of 30-13. Georgia Southern fought back in game two, however, Western took the win 30-22. Western dropped the third game 30-26 and fought their way back to win the fourth game (30-28) and the match.
Three Catamounts recorded double-doubles in the win. Attebery with 21 kills and 17 digs, sophomore Sara Komosinski with 12 kills and 11 digs while senior Bri Milan-Williams dished out 47 assists and tallied 15 digs.
Western Carolina improves to 17-8 overall and 12-3 in the Southern Conference, while Georgia Southern falls to 16-8 overall and 12-3 in league play. Western will host SoCon rival Chattanooga, Sunday, October 28 at 6:00 pm.
