WCU Volleyball Rolls Past Chattanooga, 3-0

Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina volleyball team defeated Southern Conference rival Chattanooga, 3-0 Sunday night in the Ramsey Center to move into second place in the league.

Western took Chattanooga handily in the first game, 30-21. The Lady Mocs jumped out to a 12-6 lead in game two until Western outscored the Mocs 11-5 to tie the game at 17. The Cats would not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game to take a 30-23 win. In game three Western allowed Chattanooga to carry a short lead. A service ace by Western's Shari Harder and a kill by Pamela Stein put Western in the lead 8-7. WCU did not let down winning the game 30-26.

Three Catamounts notched double-doubles on the night while Western tallied 97 digs as a team to Chattanooga's 76. Sophomore Sara Komosinski led the match in kills with 17 and picked up 16 digs. Komosinski also recorded a .469 hitting percentage (17-2-32) in the effort. Senior Christy Attebery led the match in digs with 23 and put down 13 kills. Senior Bri Milan-Williams dished out 47 assists and tallied 11 digs.

Western remains undefeated on their home court (13-0) as they improve to an 18-8 overall record and 13-3 in the league. The Cats will travel to Furman, Wednesday, October 31 at 7:00 pm.
