Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina women's volleyball team remains undefeated on their home court with a 3-0 victory over Wofford Wednesday night in the Ramsey Center.
The Catamounts never relinquished the lead in games one and two as they took 30-23 and 30-21 wins from the Terriers. WCU hit for .556 as a team and put down 21 kills to Wofford's 13 in game two.
The Terriers threatened a comeback in game three bringing the score within one point (23-24). Wofford's Andrea Duke served to tie the game at 24. A ball handling error by Currie Gossett ended the rally and gave Western a one point lead (25-24). Wofford tied the game again at 25 with a kill by Cristy Carter. WCU freshman, Stefanie Peters shut down Wofford with a kill as the Cats outscored Wofford 5-3 to end the game at 30-28.
The Catamounts were led by Sara Komosinski with 15 kills and Bri Milan-Williams with 33 assists and 17 digs. Also recording a double-double for Western was Attebery with 10 kills and 15 digs.
Wofford was led by Duke with 13 kills and 10 digs. Carter also added 10 digs in the effort. Wofford falls to 10-6 overall and 3-4 in SoCon play.
WCU improves to a 9-6 overall record, 6-1 in league play and an undefeated 7-0 home record. The team will travel to College of Charleston, Saturday, October 6 and The Citadel, Sunday, October 7. Times are set for 7:00 pm and 1:00 pm, respectively.
